Autistic and Non-Autistic People Show Fundamental Similarities in Mental Processing

Researchers recommend making fundamental changes to the education of those with autism. They suggest that changing the social and sensory environments will help those on the autism spectrum thrive.

In the largest study of its kind, researchers at the University of Bath tested the link between autism and "quick" intuitive and "slow" rational thinking in more than 1000 individuals. They concluded that, contrary to previous thought, certain fundamental mental processes are similar between non-autistic and autistic individuals.
